Seniors Capstone Group's collaborative logo to celebrate the takeover
The month of March is bringing in a very exciting collaboration between local business, Haven Boutique, and the Marist College fashion program. With the renovation of Marist’s Steel Plant building comes brand new retail and design laboratories that are being utilized throughout this effort.
This spring, senior fashion merchandising students, Rachel Gifford, Samantha Carach, and Josiah Turbak have been completing a collaborative senior thesis project which involves a social media and in-store takeover of Haven Boutique, as well as a re-launch of the store’s website.
The team will be joining forces with their student-run, on-campus retail store, The Collective by MPorium, by working with one of the store’s visual merchandisers, Gabriella Ciardullo. She has been a part of the store’s retail entrepreneurship course for the past two years and will be assisting the group with their in-store visual merchandising efforts that will be showcased in Haven’s in store event which will be on March 30th, 2019.
The March 30th event will also exhibit an exclusive window display, with skills garnered in their coursework that will display this collaborative logo.

While the Fashion Department’s new Steel Plant Studios building offers a multitude of technological advances, the rustic brick, and lush winter garden also provide the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot. Haven’s customers can expect to see a few social media posts of local fashion bloggers, @togetherishmom and @the_fashion_tribune, through a series of lifestyle style photos throughout the month of March. In addition, the website re-launch in early April will be displaying an exclusive lookbook from the photoshoot.

Much of the organic elements of the lookbook and social media can be expected to show up in the window display and store remerchandising efforts on Haven’s March 30th event. The Marist Fashion senior capstone students will be present for the store event, as customers are encouraged to shop the newly re-merchandised space and to meet the team behind this special takeover.
The student’s instructor Jennifer Finn, Professional Lecturer of Fashion Merchandising at Marist College, stated “The Fashion program here at Marist is very excited the see this collaboration unfold, just as we imagine Haven’s customers are. This idea of looking at a cohesive branding strategy from the lens of in-store execution, e-commerce traffic, and social media engagement all speaks to our curriculum within our Fashion Merchandising program. Bringing the “Total Retail Experience” to Haven will be so exciting to watch unfold. We can’t wait to follow along and see the final results on March 30th.”
